LIFE LESSONS FROM A BRAIN SURGEON caught my eye because of its beautifully simplistic cover with literal pops of color.

The narrative follows a structure where the beginning of each chapter introduces the story of a patient and the brain problem that led them to DR. RAHUL JANDIAL.

He discusses stories of language, creativity, drugs, sleep, breathing, head injuries, food, ocd, stem cells, and aging.

I enjoyed the narrative structure as he showed the science of the brain and the real world implications of when things go awry. Nonetheless, books of this genre frustrate me as the information within its pages can completely contradict what is told in a comparable title.

In general, this shows the complexities of the human body, but also feels like no one, not even doctors, have real answers about health.

hindsight: this book could have been condensed
