1984 will forever take my breathe away as it is a prophetic warning about the dangers of losing individuality and totalitarian governments.

It follows Winston, a citizen of Oceania, as he attempts to subvert the governments unlimited authority by engaging in a love affair with Julia. 

It’s a world where Big Brother keeps all citizens under constant surveillance, aims to revoke speech almost in its entirety, and has destroyed family loyalty. 

GEORGE ORWELL wrote this book in 1949 as a prediction of what was to come. The eerie similarities to the digital society we live in today indicates the scary accuracy of his vision, even if the year was a little too early.
